2010′s Highest Paid Footballer In The World Is…
Not Me! Well that’s a fact of course.
But seriously, does anyone even need to ask this question?
Like who was the most expensively purchased footballer in recent years and anointed footballer of the year?
Precisely, Christinao Ronaldo takes the plaudits, thanks to a recent survey, tracked by a Portugues marketing agency Futebol Finance, as reported by MirrorFootball.
It’s no surprise that the most well paid footballers residing in the top 20 lists comes from the English Premiere League, but looking at that list, I’m a little aggrieved that a certain beloved Spanish striker is not even in the top 30 of the most well paid footballers, considering the immense talent and impact that he’s had.
Yes, Fernando Torres is listed at a surprising no.34, if he’s to be considered as one of the world’s top striker at the moment.
I suspect that if this season, the Reds don’t clinch a top four spot, the riches of Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester City might tempt our El-Nino away from Anfield.
Loyalty, and the courage to stay true to your heart, is commendable, but in this world, there’s only so much years that a footballer is able to ply his trade, and when winning trophies don’t fill the conversation at the dinner table, you’ve to find other ways to feed yourselves.
Still I hope Liverpool don’t sell out on him, and perhaps provide a better deal in years to come, BUT should he leave, it’s painful but understandable.
Nevertheless, crossing my fingers now.
Liverpool versus Mancherster City, in a few hours’ time — and I’m hoping that the Reds don’t stumble tonight, or Manchester City will simply pull away further at 4th spot.

AUTHOR BIO: Indeed, thinking of El-Nino leaving Anfield is a very scary thought, especially when you have to leave your hopes on a young, inexperienced Frenchman and an overly industrious Dutchman as your backup plans. *Shudders* Catch Mar at his personal blog.mar.sg and drop him a message or two.
